I am thinking

of signing up for a month or two of the Nutrisystem food plan. Sigh. I am thinking that if I go back to the very controlled portions and foods I might see a change in my weight loss. I don't know - but I am tempted to give it a shot. My only deal is that it is pretty expensive - and I am not sure if it would make a difference. I would have to spend over $10 a day on food and have nothing to show for it in the end. I don't know what to do!!

I wouldn't do that just yet. Aren't you supposed to go see a specialist your doctor recommended? I wouldn't do anything until after that appointment, and then if you want to try the very carefully controlled portions, do it yourself with your own food. You know how to make healthy food and portion it out into small servings--I wouldn't pay someone else $10 a day for that. And the food you make would probably taste a lot better too (check online reviews of Nutrisystem. The biggest complaint about them, other than their bad customer service, is that the food tastes terrible and they often substitute items you order with other items that you might not like at all). I also have a general distrust for companies like that--like most weight loss systems, they just don't work for the vast majority of people on them (like when you did Jenny Craig--works at first but doesn't last). You're better off saving your money and replicating the elements of the system that are based on good weight loss practices yourself.

Yeah - That has been my thought process too. Jenny Craig was really good for me initially - and even over the long term. It DID teach me better portion control and balance meal planning and that is what Katie and I have been using. And - as with Jenny Craig - doing the good portion control DID work for me in the beginning of this diet too. I remember when we first started being VERY excited because I actually felt hungry when I was supposed to - which led me to believe that my metabolism was working for the first time in years. Sadly - I am back to the never feeling hungry and not eating regularly because of it. I HAVE managed to stick to the eating breakfast thing - and most days I do it before 10am. I just can't maintain that good schedule. Then when I do want to eat it is based on mood - which doesn't usually lean towards fruits or vegetables. Sigh.
