Since I knew we were going to the Renaissance Festival on Sunday and I also know that my primary purpose in going each year is to eat food and drink drinks I don't normally get to have, I decided to be responsible about it this year--first I decided to up my walk/run on Saturday and Sunday by a half mile each day, then to decrease my intake all day Saturday and Sunday morning so that I started the Festival with a calorie deficit. Then I decided to really be prepared and check the calorie count of the stuff I wanted to eat--fish & chips, cheesecake on a stick, and cider. Found out that all told, it would be 1157 calories I'd be taking in--nearly my total for an entire day!
So my first miscalculation was the total calories. I didn't figure on Connor (and others) helping to eat the fish & chips, bringing my total intake at the ren. fest. down by 200 calories. And I also didn't figure on the extra calories I'd burn by walking around the festival, carrying either a heavy bag or a heavy child the whole time. So I figured with those two things factored in, I could eat (or more accurately, drink) more. But my real miscalculation was what the effects of three drinks would be on me when I hadn't eaten much at all for 24 hours! Last year, three drinks would have been just a good start--this year they nearly did me in. But boy, it was fun!
And I think my total calories for the day was well within my normal intake--all I had for dinner was spinach salad. And today my weight was down to under 153 pounds! I hope it stays like that for tomorrow.
