GACK!!!

Did anyone else see this article? Most of the foods look REALLY GROSS to me anyway! How can any one person eat all of that in one sitting anyway. Katie and I went to Outback the other day. I ordered the 7oz center cut filet (I hate Outback - the Bonefish filet is WAY better and cheaper and that is a fish store!!) but anyway - I could only finish about half of the filet. I packed it up along with half of my other foods and had it for lunch the next day.

I agree -- really gross! Daniel and I don't go to Outback anymore because it's always disappointing, for some reason. We have tried their Bloomin' Onion (multiple times) and it's WAY yummier than it looks -- but we end up feeling so overstuffed and gross before the meal even arrives that we can't eat any dinner.

Scary stuff. And I'm reading it after a dinner of take-out Chinese food -- another food that makes your arteries harden just to look at. Bleah. Shame on me!

I've never actually been to an Outback, partially because I just don't get the appeal. The menu just doesn't do much for me, and then when you look at how long people wait for tables? No way!

I had heard about this particular menu item. I think maybe on NPR? I know it was on some radio program where they mentioned that it had been voted the worst food in America.

Did you look at any of the other winners? Makes me think that restaurants should be required to post their nutritional information right on the menu!

Eating out is deadly for your waistline, unfortunately. I like to eat out but you've got to tread lightly. That said I noticed a couple of items on the WORST list that look DELISH: Chili's Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream and Bob Evans Caramel Banana Pecan Cream Stacked and Stuffed Hotcakes -- now add some chocolate chips in there an we're talking. haha Would I actually order those? No way. Not even on a bad day. But when you start stuffing flour-like substances with creamy stuff can you really lose? Well you won't lose weight. haha
I like Outback's steak special. The last time I had it I ordered a plain sweet potato with it and had a basic salad. I like they're steak and they're BIG Fosters beers are always good.
I guess though I'm just amazed at how many foods have crap in them i.e. high fructose corn syrup or a lot of added salt and sugar. Food does actually taste good without that crapola in it. I think it tastes better.

I was saying that to Heather this morning. I have gotten so used to NOT having processed food in my life that it has really lost it's appeal. EVERYTHING that isn't fresh or whole seems to be giving me horrible reflux lately. I think that may be from the more successful attempt at being gluten free. I now respond to even a small amount of gluten. But that is OK. I like rice and corn. And I made the absolute most fabulous gluten free buckwheat pancakes this morning. Way better than IHOP. They were more tender than regular pancakes. They were sweetened with applesauce and agave nectar. SO YUMMY!
